This Was My First Concert and it was a GREAT first concert. I was 10 years old my birthday was in a month and I was so psyched!
OK now time for the story we arrived at Peoria Sports Complex around noon right when we got there we saw the last 3 or 4 songs Harvey Danger did and I was really confused on what to do.
My brother matt said "hey let's go to the front so we can see the next band" and I didn't know who Save Ferris was so I'm like "OK!" when we got up to the front and Save Ferris started playing and everyone started skanking, but I had no idea what was going on so I was just kicking my feet like a lord of the dance and everyone was laughing at me so I stopped but then this guy and my brother formed a skank circle around me and they were trying to show me how and I finally got a hold of it on last song or 2 and I felt so cool I was thinking "man I'm like so cool because I know how to skank yeah man I'm so cool"
Gilbert, Linzy, My Brother and I tried to get right up next to the stage for blink 182. Well my brother Matt hadn't herd anything from blink 182 so he had no idea what to expect and so when Blink started everyone was jumping (at first) and my brother said "Jump Ryan, Jump, JUMP, JUMP!" and then a (my first) mosh pit opened up right behind us; and my brother was like "holy crap I got to get you outta here" so (my other brother) Stuart grabbed me and Anthony grabbed Gilbert and then fought us threw the mosh pit! it was so COOL! for the rest of blink 182 Gilbert and I stayed in the back so we could see what the band was doing and we sang along to all the songs!
CAKE was a disappointment they got on stage played Is This Love? then they got pegged with water bottles and the lead singer said "if we get hit with one more water bottle..." POW! right to the head with a bottle "Were Plugging off!" and then they left! I was so pissed I was the only one there that was wearing a cake t-shirt or anything promoting CAKE and so when they plugged off people were giving me the finger and saying "CAKE SUX!" right to my face.
But I guess cake leaving was a good thing because sugar ray came on earlier than they were supposed to. So I saw Sugar Ray (this is before 14:59 and all there other mellow crap) and they were really cool they dedicated the song Rivers (which is about Rivers From Weezer) to mykel and carlie and it was so cool. In the middle of Mean Machine they stopped and said "you people don't deserve this crap" and went right into Fly it was so amazingly cool man.
OVERALL it was the best first concert I could ask for when I was 10!
